Robert Half Finance & Accounting is seeking an Results and Detail Oriented Director of Underwriting for a growing mortgage lender in Marlton, NJ. They are a full service, national lender that is an approved Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae seller / servicer.
The company is seeking a VP of Production Underwriting. The position will report to the COO and will be primarily responsible for managing the Company’s underwriting staff, while overseeing the underwriting of complex non-agency / non-QM loans as well as government and conventional loans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•Ensure loans are underwritten in accordance with our and secondary market investor’s standards
•Train and coach underwriting team members when needed and institute a training program to provide for continued advancement of underwriters into more complex degrees of loan types, including non-qm, non-traditional, non-agency and/or subprime products.
•Provides technical assistance to subordinate underwriters, loan originators, processors and closers in order to enhance volume, accuracy, efficiency and maintain superior customer service
•Manage to and validate implementation of regulatory and investor-required changes as well as company-led initiatives aimed at ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and improving performance of underwriting operations
•Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Credit Risk and Product Management, Legal / Compliance, and other Company functions, as necessary, to continuously enhance the customer experience, fulfill origination-related company requirements and ensure compliance with investor and regulatory requirements
•Continuously evaluate underwriter performance against SLA targets and assess opportunities to improve underwriting decisioning and productivity while supporting the Company’s mission of providing the best possible client experience
•Be the subject matter expert of investor underwriting guides and investor compliance requirements. Monitor all related entities for new changes and ensure dissemination of changes internally as well as implementation of changes as necessary
•Develop and maintain relationships with investors which contribute to the success of the Company
•Recruit and retain highly productive, customer-centric underwriters, particularly underwriters with non-qm, non-traditional, non-agency and/or subprime experience.

Job Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Finance or an equivalent combination of education experience
•Significant experience in non-traditional, non-agency and/or subprime products
•Wholesale and Non-delegated correspondent experience required.
•Minimum of 10 years residential mortgage underwriting experience
•Minimum 5 years of senior-level mortgage underwriting management experience
•HUD Direct Endorsement Underwriter designation
•SAR/VA LAPP Designation
•Thorough knowledge of underwriting procedures and real estate appraisal requirements
•Thorough knowledge of creditor financial analysis techniques and mortgage credit evaluation
•Thorough knowledge of criteria, guidelines and government regulations associated with various loan types (i.e., FHLMC, FNMA, FHA, VA, Conventional, Private Investor)
•Good PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software
•Ability to handle a high degree of attention to detail
•LendingQB experience a plus
•A strong track record of collaboration with operations and sales peers in developing client-friendly processes and policies
•A passion for outstanding customer service
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as quantitative and qualitative management skills
