Adam Wood with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is assisting an established but high growth consumer finance organization with their search for a Vice President (VP) of Collections Analytics. The VP of Collections Analytics will lead and manage a team of Credit and Risk Management professionals in analytics related to Collections performance optimization. The VP of Collections Analytics will leverage prior Credit and Risk Management experience to help manage risk in the Collections arena through analytics and business intelligence. The VP of Collections Analytics will report directly to the SVP Risk Management, and lead and manage a team of 8-10 through 2 direct reports. Duties and responsibilities of the VP of Collections Analytics shall include, but not be limited to: (i) Identifying new strategies and efficiencies in collections to mitigate risk and maximize returns; (ii) Hypothesis development, analysis, test design, test vs. control analysis, development of recommendations, and oversight of implementation; (iii) Designing tests and rollout strategies; (iv) Developing, validating and/or reviewing management reporting; (v) Partnering with others (both inside outside the team) to implement and assess strategy changes; (vi) Use sophisticated analytical techniques to develop customer risk strategies segmentation schemes, profiles, and other analytically based tools for driving customer collections recovery management; (vii) Communicate policy changes and test recommendations, program approvals, MIS and performance trends with key stakeholders, senior management and external regulators; (viii) Coordinate and collaborate with Operational teams to develop a strong understanding of Operations? capabilities and to ensure flawless execution of policy; (ix) Train analytics personnel in experimental design principles, data management, financial tracking practices, and model usage and problem detection; and (x) Assist internal businesses in the ongoing management and validation of their scores and score-based strategies. The successful candidate meets the following desired minimum standards: (i) 10+ years of experience in risk management, five of which must be in managing a credit/risk team; (ii) Bachelor's or master?s degree in relevant financial field or equivalent work experience - Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Database Marketing or Quantitative Analysis preferred; Advanced degree in a quantitative field or MBA with Systems and Marketing specialization strongly preferred; (iii) Expert level understanding of risk management and predictive modeling; (iv) Experience in or understanding of credit card financing business model in consumer lending business segment desirable; (v) Proficiency in SAS/SQL/Tableau and/or other related analytics tools; (vi) 5+ years of leadership/managerial experience within the financial services industry (consumer finance / credit card payments); (vii) Strong understanding of targeting and segmentation, retail analytic tools and advanced skills using Excel and PowerPoint strongly preferred; (viii) Demonstrated success leading a team with proven track record of delivering results; (ix) Ability to develop executable strategies, build and lead teams, articulate a clear vision, and deliver results; (x) Strong leadership, creative and analytical skills; (xi) Ability to influence senior corporate decision makers; and (xii) Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
