The Big Data Technical Manager will possess expertise in solution design, architecture, and hands-on development, testing, and deployment of complex Big Data Applications utilizing a variety of Big Data technologies including, but not limited to Hadoop(Cloudera), Hbase, Oracle NoSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, MapReduce, Hive, Flume, Spark, Kafka, Solr.


This position will specifically be responsible to manage work associated with a large program for Enterprise Marketing to procure, prepare, and present data for usage in customer insights. This leader will have experience with either Cloudera or Hortonworks distribution of Hadoop, and have hands on experience with one or more of Impala, Hive, Sqoop as well as experience with ETL development using Informatica ETL and data governance tools.


The right candidate will have experience with multiple technologies from those listed above, have firm understanding of Oracle or other Relational Databases, will be client facing and have a right balance of supporting business development activities as well as leading, managing, and contributing to solution delivery.


As a Big Data Technology Manager, you will be responsible for performing the following roles and responsibilities:


1. Conduct requirements gathering Enterprise Big Data Applications solutions


2. Craft architectural standards and help define technical strategy and direction


3. Design and build proof-of-concept solutions


4. Design and implement Big Data solutions to meet wide variety of use cases including, but not limited to those driven by IT needs such as storage optimization or data hub, or by business needs such as predictive analytics, fraud detection, etc.


5. Lead a delivery team of technical resources


6. Manage project delivery – identify and mange project risks, issues and conflicts, project staff, and budgets


Minimum Qualifications Required

Minimum of Associates’ degree and with 10 years’ technology or systems management/leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 12 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 10 years’ technology or systems management/leadership experience.


Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.

Capable of working on multiple projects of a complex nature.

Effectively use project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Experience on large system enhancements, conversions, and production problem resolution.

Complete understanding of the system development life cycle.

Excellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution.

Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

Prior experience encouraging team work and serve as role model when leading and directing others.

Understands technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.

Must be confident with leading multiple teams often in different geographic locations and time zones.

Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution.

Complete understanding of the system development life cycle. Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

Prior experience encouraging team work and serve as role model when leading and directing others.

Understands technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.

Must be confident with leading multiple teams often in different geographic locations and time zones.

Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution.

Complete understanding of the system development life cycle. Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.

Prior experience presenting to senior management.

Understands technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.


Ideal Qualifications Preferred

At least 3 years of experience of leading and managing team for developing software solution in Hadoop environment At least 3 years of experience coding in data management, data warehousing or unstructured data environments At least 3 years’ experience with data coding technologies (Hive, Impala, HBase, Spark, Python, HDFS, Parquet, Kafka)  At least 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting5+ years of database administration experience using database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or SQL Server 3+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices 3+ years of experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, JavaScript, Shell) Experience in cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud

Bachelor’s degree and with 12 years’ technology management or large program leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 16 years’ higher education and/or work experience.


Extensive application, product knowledge experience with skills, application(s) and function of the technology area being led.


Subject Matter Expert understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications.

Understanding of multiple business area’s functions.


Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities from a project management perspective.


Experience with skills, application(s) and functions of the technology area.

Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework.

Aware of the Bank’s business plan and strategic objectives with the ability to shape direction.


Mastered knowledge and focus of the entire system and support projects outside of normal BAU.


Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
