Aerotek Engineering is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer to support a ship design & engineering firm in Arlington, VA. As the Sr Systems Engineer you will support the development of autonomous surface ships for the DOD as well as stand up the MBSE center of excellence for the contractor. Additional responsibilities are: • Defining functionality early in the development cycle. • Capturing and modeling system requirements and behaviors. • Managing diverse sets of interfaces. • Ensuring the efficient application of systems engineering best practices to in-flight and future projects at all phases of the product delivery lifecycle (PDL). • Working with the project team to re-plan work to reflect efficient application of systems engineering best practices. • Developing/Improving model based system engineering processes and tools to further optimize technical efficiency and capability. • Presenting actionable recommendations, complementary to existing engineering, quality and program standards. • Coordinating the development of technical reports and other technical products to meet applicable standards, specifications and regulatory body requirements (ABS/USCG/IEEE/HARA, etc.). • Modeling and producing use cases, strategy concepts, system-of-system designs, behaviors, requirements, reliability and verification work products. • Establishing yourself as an industry expert in the application of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to the integration of autonomous / unmanned systems (UxS).

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• An Active Secret Clearance in order to start • BS or Advanced Degree in Engineering or Related Discipline. • 8(+) Years of Related Systems Engineering Experience. • 4+ years (combined) experience in a role involved in requirements definition, decomposition, modeling, controls design, and/or simulation; preferably on US Navy programs. • 4+ years performing or managing technical activities in accordance with systems engineering best practices • Demonstrated Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills including: o Modeling the behaviors of systems o Designing and refining control systems o Developing and managing interfaces o Conducting trade studies o Planning and performing verification and validation activities through all phases of the product lifecycle.
