Our customer in Birmingham, AL is looking for a Sr. Desktop Support technician to join their team on a contract to hire basis.
The desktop technician will be an integral member of a small technical support team in Birmingham. The candidate will be responsible for providing desktop support and remote desktop support to 1500 internal end users with 1200 devices. The environment is exclusively Windows 10 with a few Win 7 machines still in use. Many of the employees have handheld/mobile devices, wireless devices and phones. The candidate will need to know how to build images, patch and update Windows 10, etc. Our customer is an O365 environment.
Our customer utilizes third party companies for a lot of their technology, so this candidate will coordinate a lot of projects with the external vendors for printer issues, phone issues, etc. The technician will work alongside the vendors so there will be a lot of opportunity to assist and learn. The desktop technician must have experience with Active Directory -- creating permissions, group policies, etc.
Experience with mobile device management (MDM) utilizing MobileIron and that would be a big plus. Other big pluses are experience with Cisco VPN, Meraki and other network equipment. Additionally, many of the employees are working in warehouses so some of the technologies are card readers or POS systems as well.
