Our client, a rapidly growing and expanding Real Estate/Developer/Management company located in Bergen County is looking to add to staff and hire a Senior Accountant. This Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller, Accounting Manager and Accounting staff for their commercial property portfolio activities, transactions, and financial reporting. The main focus our client wants this person to have is strong GAAP knowledge, be super organized and be able to hit the ground running with minimal hand holding. The primary responsibilities for this role are as follows:
•Preparation of monthly financial statements for various entities including variance analysis for management
•Responsible for general accounting activities including preparation/review of month-end journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis
•Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
•Prepare and/or review detailed monthly and year end work papers, balance sheet and bank reconciliations
•Review tenant leases and provide support for rent collection
•Record intercompany transactions and balance intercompany accounts
•Assist in the management of auditor engagements for completion of annual audit reports
•Prepare sales and use tax reports and payments
•Participate in various business processes and technology integration initiatives
•Work with accounting team to improve financial procedures
•Assist with budgets and forecasts

•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA preferred
•5+ years of professional experience, real estate accounting a plus
•CPA and public accounting experience is a big plus
•Strong knowledge of GAAP
•Ability to multi-task and work independently with attention to details
•Team player, detail oriented, well organized, efficient and accurate
•Strong analytical ability
•Excellent written and communication skills
•Knowledge of MRI a plus
•Proficiency with standard suite of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
