Marketing Business Development Manager

My client within the legal services industry is seeking a talented Marketing and Business Development manager to join their team- You will be responsible for: ? Conduct research and related competitive intelligence activities for key clients, prospects, associations, and industries, and monitor the marketing and business development strategies and related activities of key competitors. ? Develop and manage marketing and business development budgets for each practice, consistent with the goals and objectives of each practice?s marketing plans. ? Research and identify sponsorship opportunities, and negotiate contracts, speaking slots and other related benefits. Maintain relationships with key organizations. ? Develop a thorough understanding of the firm?s practices, lawyers and client base. ? Help with the development of targeted mailing lists. ? Work closely with the Practice Leadership to develop and execute on marketing and business development plans ? Prepare materials for RFPs and pitches and track of follow-up and outcomes. Expected to be well-versed in our capabilities, strengths, and experience such that he/she can provide direction and guidance on appropriate pitch materials, pitch team, etc. Conduct research and provide prep materials, including talking points, for meetings where appropriate. ? Work with the Core Marketing and Operations teams to ensure that practice descriptions, data sheets, experience lists, brochures, pitch decks, web content and other marketing materials are compelling and up-to-date. ? Identify appropriate matter tracking activities for the practice and ensure appropriate details are captured in the firm's experience management system for easy output to proposal materials. ? Initiate and support client relationship building activities and other activities that will help the firm to institutionalize its client base and grow top line revenue. ? Work with partners to develop and implement business development plans and network expanding activities. ? Work with our PR partner to develop and implement public relations strategies that further the group's goal for positive media exposure and visibility. ? Help to track and provide monthly updates detailing business development activities and successes (win/loss ratios, referrals, return on networking investments, upcoming activities). ? Identify and prioritize key organizations and events in which the practice/partners will participate. ? Help to manage events, overseeing logistics, pre-event research, identifying BD opportunities, identifying opportunities for thought leadership, etc. ? Work with practices to develop and execute on thought leadership, including planned campaigns, client alerts, etc. ? Identify and manage review and submission of data for all relevant surveys and rankings, as well as review and analyze published results for practice leaders. Develop relevant client/prospect communications based on results and help to identify surveys/rankings that merit submission. ? Identify opportunities for and create targeted, strategic submissions for practice-related and attorney rankings, surveys and awards, including Chambers, Legal 500, Am Law rankings, Best Lawyers, Law360 and other industry-specific/geographic/attorney demographic awards programs. ? Assist with lateral partner and associate on-boarding and integration.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have: ? Minimum 5+ years of experience in a marketing, business development or practice management role, ideally in a legal or professional services industry. ? Minimum BA, BS or degree equivalent. ? Strong project management and process implementation skills. ? Strong people management skills. ? Strong communication skills, including writing and editing. ? Familiarity with AmLaw 200 ? Flexibility and ability to work with a wide variety of people and projects in a collective and collaborative manner. ? Strong attention to detail. Travel is required nationally for this role.
