SUMMARY:


The Infrastructure Project Manager drives the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects that are approved and funded. The position guides complex technology projects from inception through delivery and support, working in close partnership with IT and business leaders, including project, program, executive sponsors, all IT groups, as well as other leaders within the business and IT. This role is also in charge of defining objectives, creating plans to achieve objectives, tracking / reporting progress against objectives and budgets, driving execution of key projects and programs, coaching project team members and improving project management processes. This individual provides overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of project-oriented work efforts. The Infrastructure Project Manager helps establish new and improves existing project management processes and methodologies for the IT organization to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adheres to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Follows and exemplifies consistent project management practices, processes and metrics.

  • Develop clear, business language presentations for business senior leadership to support swift decision making and issue resolution when needed.

  • Work with the VP IT, IT leaders and other executives on key decision-making activities during project execution as needed.

  • Mentoring, coaching, developing & encouraging excellence from IT project teams and less experienced project managers.

  • Continually upgrade and enhance knowledge of program / project management processes / methodologies and provide a key source of expertise when needed.

  • Incorporate best practices into IT organization, beginning with project / program management practices.


Job Requirements

Requirements:


  • 5+ years managing enterprise IT projects

  • 7+ years IT Infrastructure work experience supporting a large IT user environment (8,000 - 10,000+ IT users). This experience should include working as an Infrastructure SME implementing and/or supporting enterprise solutions (Network administration and/or engineering, structured cabling, VoIP, etc.).

  • Experience managing complex technology projects involving data centers, network infrastructure, IT systems security, server and storage platforms, telephony systems, enterprise architecture, desktop, and mobile technologies.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Project, preferably in an organization using Microsoft Project Enterprise, to manage, track, and report project activities.

  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Visio to create floor plans, IT rack diagrams as well as process diagrams

  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Excel to create financial models, what-if scenarios, and forecasting

  • Develop, manage, forecast and report on all project financials.

  • Ability to analyze a project schedule to ensure delivery to agreed-upon milestones as well as leverage techniques within the project plan make course corrections to meet committed deliverable dates (e.g. leveraging CPM/CPA).

  • Strong understanding of and ability to execute project management methodologies and tools.

  • Ability to lead a project team in the successful completion of projected related activities per an approved plan.

  • Experience developing and executing plans to mitigate risks and lower impact of issues

  • Experience working in a process and governance driven environment

  • Infrastructure delivery experience at a large consulting/services organization is a plus

  • Provides input on strategic decisions to management as required
