IT Strategic Portfolio Manager

Description



The Portfolio Manager monitors the accuracy of requests including risks, dependencies, and high-level requirements to ensure current and future projects are delivered in line with business expectations to obtain identified business benefit.



Qualified candidates possess strategic leadership and innovated thinking to enable information technology investment planning. Excellent portfolio, program, and project management skills, team orientation, flexibility, and self-motivation are required for success.



Responsibilities:



• Leads the project intake process of receiving and managing new projects requests from business partners.


• Maintains oversight of the IT portfolio and ensures that commitments are properly planned, staffed, and monitored by working with resource manager and functional leads.


• Produce and analyze portfolio reports against key performance indicators.


• Identify opportunities to improve and increase adoption of IS intake, demand management and delivery processes.


• Assists in portfolio road map development and execution by collaborating with IS resource manager, functional leads and PMO.


• Continually calibrate portfolio roadmap based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints and other interdependencies.


• Proactively manage portfolio issues and act as an escalation point to business committee members, end users, resource manager, functional leads, PMO and IS Operations.


• Assist with resource planning and forecasting, establishing portfolio budgets and monitoring actual for third party vendors and consultants.


• Assist in design and implementation of future state Project Portfolio Management application.



Job Requirements

Qualifications


• At least 1 year of Portfolio Management experience, ideally with maintenance or development of Prioritization methodologies, resource planning and forecasting.


• 10 or more years of Information Technology (IT) work experience. 


• 5+ years of Business Process Office (BPO) experience a plus.


• 5+ years of strong Program/Project Management and Project Controls experience.


• Demonstrates expertise in common project and portfolio management tools such as MS Project, Clarizen, JIRA, Visio, etc.


• Good knowledge of standard change management methodologies and change assurance.


• Experience with business process reengineering methodology.


• Superior project planning skills with the ability to handle large workload, facilitate the activities of dynamic workgroups.


• Solid experience working in a highly matrix environment across many different businesses.


• Solid experience in managing project portfolios, tracking progress and reporting progress effectively to Business and IS management in a timely fashion.



Preferred Skills:


• Knowledge of Program Management.


• Experience with Kanban / agile / scrum and waterfall methodologies.


• Software development lifecycle, application deployment and information systems planning experience.


• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or combination of education and experience in a business discipline (HR, Finance, Computer Science, MIS, and Project Management).


  • Background in Information Security/Risk management highly preferred


• Additional certifications preferred, Program Management Professional (PgMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Six Sigma Greenbelt certification a plus
