The Director of Product Engineering will provide leadership, vision and direction to their development team while ensuring business objectives and client expectations are met. The Director of Product Engineering interface with multiple stakeholders in the organization to understand the requirements and timely resource management. This position is located in the Manhattan KS area, however we are flexible and willing to let this candidate work remote 2-3 days a week.

This person will work closely with the Vice President, setting team goals, vision and direction and with Software Architects to understand & implement technical design. Technical Development Managers work closely with Team Leads to ensure that deliverables met requirements, deadlines, quality benchmarks, performance concerns and standards compliance. The individual will be hands on with technology, can dive into the code and review the code written by their teams.

Job Requirements

Leadership & Teamwork:
•Manage the entire Product Engineering department, overseeing resources, staffing and the development of a world-class team.
•Create and/or maintain an environment of high expectations and delivery in both product effectiveness and quality.
•Provide thought leadership guiding the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of our software development practices.
•Responsible for leading and managing technical integrations and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
•Lead the development teams with a focus on technologies inclusive of .NET/C#, Ruby, PHP, React and others.
•Lead technology planning activities to forecast operational costs and investment levels required to deliver against the product strategy.
•Effectively manage the R&D budget, ensuring the right investment with the right returns.

Strategy and Knowledge:
•Work with other company leaders to develop long-term business plans and drive the department strategies to align with company goals.
•Set and continually review the effectiveness of departmental policy and operating procedures.
•Work closely with the senior R&D leadership in defining long-term organizational software strategies and roadmaps.
•Drive the architecture, and development of the business’s software solutions.
•Organize activities for the development, implementation, release, and maintenance of projects necessary for software development and sustenance.
•Stay abreast of development methodologies, competitors, and advances in technology.
•Provide support and leadership to development departments, facilitating continuous evolution in both the frontend and backend development teams.
