Apparel Technical Design Manager

The Creative Group is seeking a Technical Design Manager for a leader in the apparel industry. In this role, you would be fully responsible for computer driven tech pack development for all product lines from initial development through final production. Our ideal candidate will have an emphasis on creativity, knowledge of apparel construction standards, and sophisticated technical problem solving and project management skills. This is a full-time permanent role located in SE Portland and salary is dependent upon experience.

Responsibilities:


• Achieve correct design interpretation of apparel line assortment for fit & production construction standards for both child and adult product lines.

• Create consistency of product specifications for apparel manufacturing.

• Produce garment samples from concept to production garments through specifications & pattern corrections.

• Provide technical communication to both internal/external pattern services & offshore offices.

• Foster strong supportive cross-functional team relationships.

• Create and manage Excel base tech packs, tracking reports.

• Build strong partnerships both internal and external

• Effectively resolve conflicts

• Support, manage and implement change

• Champion corporate calendar

• Ability to work cross-functionally holding team accountable for deliverables.

• Manage weekly workload assuring timely delivery of Tech Packs for offshore, domestic sampling.

• Keep supervisors abreast of all deadlines & workload time & actions.

• Some travel is required in this position.

Job Requirements

• 4-5 years of patternmaking/Technical Design experience.

• Excellent computer tech pack development skills. Ability to translate style/construction details via spec & illustration format.

• Excellent Illustrator skills (Ai – In Design)

• Excellent understanding of garment and fabric construction – Ability to weigh in on in key decision-making milestone meetings, offering best in class working solutions to improve product, process or cycle time.

• Strong understanding of pattern corrections, Optitex , & Lectra software.

• Strong communication skills, problem solving/analytical abilities, and time management skills).

• PLM experience preferred.

• Acute concentration to garment quality and detail. Prior experience with Garment Specification software a plus

• Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel, PLM, Illustrator Suite (In-Design), Photoshop,etc.

 
REQUIRED EDUCATION

2 years formal education in patterns, specification, or equivalent experience.
