Accounting Consultant

Job Description

Manage and oversee technical accounting areas and new accounting standards. Prepare, review, or assist with all external financial reporting by interacting frequently with stakeholders regarding financial reporting and disclosure issues.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proactively lead projects related to the monitoring, research, documentation, and implementation of new technical accounting pronouncements and new or unusual transactions. Work with general accounting to develop processes and transition new accounting resulting from new guidance or transactions to appropriate team members. Prepare or review memorandums and controls documenting the work performed.

Oversee the accounting for complex technical accounting areas such as derivatives, goodwill, and intangibles.

Prepare and/or review the Company's contractual obligations and commitments, lease accounting memorandums, and embedded derivative assessments.

Participate in the preparation or review of other complex areas that may include IBNR, fair value calculations, debt extinguishments/modifications, segments, cash flow statements, etc. as necessary.

Review external financial statements such as statutory reports and 401(k) plans.

Prepare and present financial reporting packages.

Preparation and/or review of SOX documentation. Work with internal/external auditors periodically throughout the year.

Support management in the following areas as needed:

Preparation and review of SEC financial statements and review of XBRL tags.

Preparation and review of debt and equity offering prospectuses.

Manage the disclosure controls process including preparing materials for committee meetings or coordination of management representation letters and certifications.

Prepare SEC comment letter responses or comment letters on FASB exposure drafts.

Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
