Vice President of Sponsorship Sales

Job Description

Seeking a Vice President of Sponsorship Sales to manage and to lead a sales team located in the Greater NYC area.    



Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the team in developing a pipeline of qualified sponsorship and media prospects large enough to meet or to exceed financial goals
  • Leading, motivating and retaining a high-performing, high energy team of direct and indirect reports who are passionate about delivering results in a quickly evolving digital environment
  • Understanding clients’ marketing needs and business models to expedite sales cycles
  • Understanding the company’s capabilities and accurately articulating value sponsorship and media propositions
  • Communicating industry opportunities to management and helping facilitate conversations and initiatives designed to best position the company for success
  • Maintaining a keen focus on identifying client challenges and translating them into opportunities to sell partnerships and media solutions
  • Identifying and cultivating new revenue opportunities with category focus
  • Managing client relationships from initial pitch through transition/onboarding, onto long-term engagements of ongoing strategic management and leadership
  • Creatively exploring upsell/leverage opportunities with existing sponsorship and media partners
  • Utilizing knowledge, vision and track record of innovation, in addition to experience/expertise and in some cases, reputation within a specific industry or solution area
  • Applying discipline to program development and measurement
  • Demonstrating understanding of client/partner needs, marketplace and competitors
  • Understanding the needs of the sales, audience development, production and technology teams, and participating in healthy debates with co-executives on corporate and business unit goals
  • Building deep, trusted relationships/partnerships with sponsors, media agencies and partners to serve their varied marketing and sales needs

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required, Master degree preferred
  • 10+ years of proven revenue development experience within media, entertainment, or sports in progressively responsible roles focused on integrated sponsorship & digital media expertise, preferably in consultative selling to Fortune 500 C-level decision makers and/or similar senior level agency decision makers
  • Proven track record of successfully closing seven figure sponsorship and/or media deals
  • Solid understanding of the digital/technology landscape including industry trends, key players, terminology and overall knowledge of the sponsorship/media landscape with ability to craft integrated marketing plans and solutions
  • Strong goal orientation with proven track record of building a pipeline of new business and exceeding established financial targets
  • Robust analytical skills, including market strategy and a value-based selling process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create and deliver convincing and strategic sales approaches, proposals, documentations and presentations
