Sr. Project Manager

Overview
The US IT Lab Solutions Team manages the roll-out, support and development of software solutions that are used in 80 laboratories in the US. Support and development activities cover a variety of LIMS packages, quality systems, instrument support models and data requirements in a variety of industries.
The candidate will join a growing team of LIMs support specialists, developers and project managers, working in close collaboration with the Lines of Business (LOB), to define, implement and deploy a variety of solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will be related to the project planning, management and execution for deployments of a range of solutions to individual laboratories according to the SGS core design and project management methodology.

Reporting
Lab Solutions Manager

Specific Responsibilities
•Support the US IT Lab Solutions Team in the efficient planning and rollout of software packages/solutions as needed.
oDeveloping and delivering an overall project plans to develop and deploy solutions with agreed timelines and milestones
oManaging relationships with local managers (Laboratory Directors, Laboratory Managers, LOB Managers) during all stages of the project and organizing the required scoping, update and status meetings (Steering Committee, Team Meetings)
oManaging and delivering the implementation through a collaborative effort with the stakeholders (planning, local design, configuration, testing, UAT, training, data load and migration, cutover and post Go-Live hypercare support)
oManaging relationships and activities with other internal teams related to each project such as:
Development team to deliver on requirements
Infrastructure and Back Office IT teams to develop sustainable solutions
Application Support team to review the setup and perform handover after deployment
Global IT groups to ensure solutions are in line with overall SGS strategies
•Manage the evaluation, definition of requirements, setup and testing of new functionality
•Manage the development and maintenance of training materials and testing documentation
•Manage the definition, development, testing and implementation of solution enhancements
•Manage the development and continuous improvement of solutions as needed

Job Requirements

Profile
•Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) or Technology (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems) related discipline or equivalent in terms of education, training, and demonstrated work experience
•Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in project management in laboratory environments, preferably in IT and/or quality solutions
•Preferably experience with at least five (5) full life cycle implementations in small to medium size laboratories networks
•Scientific informatics knowledge, laboratory operations and Information Technology (IT) proficiency is required
•Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly desired
•International and multi-cultural experience would be a plus
•Willing to travel as needed (depending on needs of project as little as 10% with over 50% possible)
•Experience managing remote projects

Required Skills
•Able to motivate and influence superior, peers and subordinates
•Domain experience with a variety of LIMS applications
•Full software development life cycle (SDLC) experience
•Experience administering a project management methodology
•Ability to contribute to multiple projects for different business stakeholders
•Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, at all levels
•Good negotiator, diplomatic, and persuasive
•Acts quickly and decisively
•Ability to work with people of different cultural backgrounds
•Flexibility (traveling, working hours)
•Ability to work independently; organized and rigorous
•Ability to work effectively within a team environment
•Works well under pressure
•Continuous improvement focus
•Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages would be a plus
•Ability and willingness to continuously acquire new skills and competencies
•Applies judgment and acts according to the SGS standards of ethics and integrity
