Senior Data Analyst - Healthcare Claims Data
The Senior Data Analyst plans, conducts and directs the analysis of both internal and external business problems to be solved with automated systems. He/she will work with users to evaluate and develop systems, analyses and procedures which meet user and business requirements and designs and works with developers to automate systems for both internal and external user applications to meet these needs. In addition, the Sr. Data Analyst will Work with programmers using their designs to guide coding as well as, perform unit testing and user acceptance of applications and analyses and completes documentation and procedures for installation and usage.
The Sr. Data Analyst will work independently with internal and external clients on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors. He/she must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. At times this person will work with software architect or analytics manager in conjunction with business alliance, sales, services, and solution design staff in order to analyze client or prospect's claim editing issues, procedure authorization issues, problems, or potential opportunities and assists team in executing optimal analytic design. This role will help with the analytical approaches, potential solutions, and the operational constraints of the client, and can aid in the implementation of analytic solutions to achieve maximum value from the McKesson suite of products and services as well as answer additional questions a client may have.
Responsible for working with large files of data and has the ability to translate data results into actionable results.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to rapidly changing schedules, priorities and workflows. Lead group facilitation and presentations and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
Work with clients, other analytics team members, product management and services staff to design and execute turnkey and applicable solutions for analytic deliverables including, but not limited to, recurring reports, Business Case solutions, and other ad-hoc analyses required by constituents.
Facilitate all pieces of external and internal analytic engagements, such as data mapping, code analysis using proprietary programming tools, Excel and SQL.
Execute complex analyses to aid in reporting and interpretation of analytical findings to build a comprehensive solution. Presents finding to customers, and completes necessary follow-up analysis.
Write usage documentation, presentations and tutorials for all applications created.
6+ years experience in designing, building, and implementing business solutions using information technology. Significant experience in business analysis, requirements definition and deployment of business requirements to information systems.
5+ years Business Analysis
Healthcare claims operations knowledge
Strong experience with SQL and Excel
Established background with external client/customer facing roles

Understanding of the full cycle of software development methodology.
In-depth knowledge of building systems solutions.
Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of data manipulation languages (e.g. awk, sed), SQL, PL/SQL and/or Tcl/Tk
Expert presentation skills; comfortable with working with senior management level personnel both inside and outside the organization.
High level knowledge of ERD creation tools such as Erwin, Visio, etc.
Knowledge of healthcare claims processing, managed care operations, and healthcare data attributes.
Knowledge of claims coding techniques, including CPT and ICD9 coding.
Significant experience in business analysis, requirements definition and deployment of business requirements to information systems.
Strong organizational skills, ability to think and react quick, efficient and adequate according to business requirements and various constraints.
Ability and willingness to learn and use new technologies
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
