Director, Global Travel Industry Relations - TMC - Hilton Worldwide - Remote Position

The Director of Global Travel Industry Relations for Hilton Worldwide will be responsible for leading and negotiating new commercial agreements with relevant TMC collaborates within the company's distribution guidelines. The Team Member will execute strategic business plans that optimize Hilton has preferred global agreements that result in incremental revenue and market share growth. The Director of Global Travel Industry Relations will be responsible for the utilization and disbursement of marketing funds that ensures a return on investment and delivers incremental value to the enterprise. The Team Member will lead TMC activities within their account portfolio working closely with the brand teams, revenue management, marketing, B2B HHONORS and other commercial areas to ensure a cohesive and consistent deployment of Hilton's Travel Agency strategy.


What will I be doing?
  • Lead the commercial strategy within assigned client portfolio, implementing activities in order to achieve set revenue goals
  • Represent Travel Management Companies (TMC), Consortia, and the GDS channel in and amongst other disciplines including but not limited to the Brands, Brand Performance Support, BTS, Revenue Management and Marketing
  • As needed, recommend, implement additional services (in conjunction with centralized GTIR resources) to support hotel and brand needs in the interest of outperforming the competitive set and market
  • Ensure appropriate communication within the commercial leadership is established and monitored to provide visibility of performance against agreed KPI's
  • Leverage analytical skill to determine direction and priority for both proactive and reactive situations, resulting in revenue and market share opportunities and readily deploy tactics to remedy challenges and take advantage of opportunities
  • Create and execute business plans that fully optimize Hilton's global agreements
  • As the global TMC lead within the assigned account portfolio, will be responsible for creating and delivering the global strategy to Hilton TMC peer group within the APAC and EMEA regions
  • Determine an effective disbursement of regional funds that enable sufficient sales and marketing activity can be deployed in each territory to support the global partnership
  • Work with the Hilton Field Sales team to ensure optimal coverage of TMC Call Center and booking locations
  • Design and execute strategic and tactical plans to leverage GDS, SBT and mobile platforms in order to ensure optimal shelf space and conversion
  • Leverage all GTIR processes, levers (Marketing, Market Intelligence, TA loyalty program, etc.) and resources to optimize the value of the TMC partnerships in the region
  • Design and coordinate business plans and projects to create value out of the TMC partnerships
  • Collaborate with the Director of GTIR Marketing on building a robust marketing plan that leverages all available marketing tools within the TMC's capabilities and budgets accordingly
  • Identify and oversee resources and activities of the GTIR department and confer as appropriate with key stakeholders and departments (BTS; Global Sales; GDM; Brand Teams; Hotels; IT; Revenue Management), so objectives are accomplished
  • Develop and execute online and WebEx hotel education programs for all brands and Sales offices
  • Direct the grouping of and assignment of tasks, while ensuring optimal allocation of resources
  • Ensure any communication plan established by department head is properly executed
  • Manage the cross-functional links between GTIR and BTS: Global; Regional Sales; GDM; RFP Clearinghouse; Brand teams; Hotels; IT; and Revenue Management
  • Direct the development and administration of the Global Marketing Plan and Marketing Funds to all global regions ensuring the plan will facilitate meeting or exceeding market share and revenue goals
  • Manage effective regional partnerships with TMCs, alongside internal relationships with the GDM Department; Revenue Management; Brand Marketing; Sales
  • Translate organizational goals and objectives into performance standards for department and individual positions
  • Assess actual performance against standards to determine whether the partnership is on target to reach its goals and take corrective actions as necessary
  • Ensure the business plan and goals are being followed and achieved, providing feedback or revising the plan, if needed
  • Monitor return on invested capital and time resources
  • Work within established departmental budget
  • Review and make appropriate adjustments in activities and expenses throughout the fiscal year to ensure optimal financial results
  • Attend industry events and trade shows
  • Comfortable managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects
  • Moderate to heavy travel schedule
  • Has a breadth of knowledge in the corporate travel distribution landscape that encompasses GDS, content aggregation and multi sourcing
  • Understanding of industry terms
  • Knowledgeable about industry Self-Booking Tools; RFP Processing Software; Global Distribution Systems; and TMC Technology
  • Analyze industry trends and adapt to changing market
  • Ability to direct and collaborative throughout the Hilton organization, possibly including internal resources; external resources and other constituent groups as appropriate with aim of furthering Company goals
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills; as well as excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze departmental financial data as required, enabling strategic and tactical decisions
  • Ability to manage change; resolve conflicts and ensure collaboration within teams and/or units; includes maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • Ability to take initiative on identifying, prioritizing and implementing all tasks that are in keeping with core strategic goals
  • Strong problem solving skills, including ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate; ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems; ability to develop problem solving skills among direct reports and other Team Members as appropriate
  • Ability to advocate and implement professional development for self, direct reports and others, including capability to work with peers and other resources to provide development and mentoring opportunities; includes adherence to organization's standards for performance feedback
  • Ability to evaluate and identify opportunities from a strategic perspective, including ability to develop, prioritize and implement plans to meet organization's core strategic goals

  • Budget development and management skills, including the ability to track expenses against commitments; set priorities for funding, and develop annual budgets
  • Knowledge of business mathematics, including the ability to calculate percentage changes, averages and weighted averages
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to understand and manipulate basic spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently and manage the independent work of other Team Members as appropriate; includes the ability to recognize need for involvement of other teams and peers and capability to effectively facilitate that collaboration
  • Ability to provide effective performance feedback to subordinates and work to ensure the peak productivity of the department and all reports, direct or indirect


What are we looking for?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:


  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional hospitality experience in the travel industry / corporate hotel sales.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of managerial experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years at Director level experience in the travel / corporate hotel sales industries
  • Ability to negotiate and implement new commercial agreements with proven success
  • Ability to travel as required, at least 40%, including internationally

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of managerial experience
  • Corporate Hotel Sales Experience
  • GDS and/or 3rd party Distribution experience is preferred
  • Significant Hospitality industry experience with a mix of experience from Accounting, IT, Sales and/or Marketing roles
  • Established relationships with travel industry key decision makers
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, virtual office work environment
  • In depth knowledge of the Travel industry
