Assistant Vice President, Healthcare Claims

Job Description

Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Vice President of U.S. Healthcare Claims! This role is a permanent, full time role as you will be hired directly by the company. This role will reside in Jersey City, NJ.

Key Accountabilities:

- Management of healthcare claim staff, direct handling of primary/excess healthcare claims. 
-Responsible for coaching, developing and motivating direct reports.
- Recruiting and selection, employee appraisals and proactively addressing employee grievance and performance issues.
- These duties will be carried out in accordance with company policies and practices in conjunction with HR.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

- Ensure compliance with established claim handling guidelines regarding coverage, investigation, liability, damages, evaluation and resolution.

- Establish reserves pursuant to established reserving protocols and reserve authority procedures.
- Provide mentoring and training to staff.
- Act as claims contact for reinsurance placements.
- Adhere to the panel counsel program and litigation guidelines.
- Manage outside vendors including control of ALAE.
- Provide claims underwriting support.
- Undertake general office administrative duties as and when required.
- Proactively expand and maintain market and industry awareness.
- BS Degree or higher required.
- Strong coverage background.
- Strong communication and leadership.
- Ability to negotiate and be persuasive.
- Ability to review processes and determine opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to work at both an overview and detailed level.
- The ability to manage time, projects and meet deadline priorities.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare claims.
