Compensation: $85,500.99 to $110,000.00 per year

This Controller role will be a key member of the transportation department as well as the distribution centers and the forward looking strategy of the overall organization. Will lead in the continuing enhancement of management, and will regularly interact senior management and executives in several areas of the organization and across operating companies. 1. Major objectives: (Determine what a person taking this job needs to do over the next 6 to 12 months to be considered successful.) Gain in depth understanding of the Freight & Distribution model for corporation and how finance can provide value to this group. Lead in the creation of clear, concise and consistent financial reporting including weekly forecasts, monthly closes, quarterly budgets, and annual plans with a focus on delivering value added and insightful information for management decision making. Manage and develop staff assigned to enhance technical and business capabilities. Review, update and implement procedures for identifying cost reduction opportunities and/or cost updates as a result of network changes. 2. Supporting objectives: (key steps needed to meet the major objectives) Become an integral partner to key stakeholders including Distribution Management, Transpiration Management and Supply Chain Management. Fully utilize and leverage available financial tools and systems. Ensure compliance within company and underlying operating company financial policies, GAAP and SOX requirements. 3. Management and organization issues: (day-to-day planning and organization activities needed for success) Review and validate standard work to ensure reliability and accuracy Become proficient with systems required to facilitate role. 4. Changes and improvements: (what do we want changed, improved or upgraded?) Drive efficiencies in existing processes through understanding of business needs and eliminating non value add activities Continue to find improvements in role by assessing customer needs and directing activities toward value added results. 5. Problems: (existing problems or those likely to be encountered) Unifying the various operating company reporting packages to drive consistency and enhanced management information delivery Consistent, accurate financial forecasting of month/quarter results 6. Technical issues: (application, expected outcome, or use of technical skills) Success in position could be considered reliant upon the full integration and understanding of available systems including Hyperion, Oracle, Cognos Reporting, and GFR. Technical acumen key as organization looks to broaden system infrastructure. Full understanding of accounting implications from business decisions executed. 7. Team and people issues: (special interpersonal needs or problems or cross-functional team issues) Manage assigned staff to ensure development and growth in role Successful candidate will work as a team player and understand the differing needs across the organizations. 8. Long-range, creative, or strategic issues: (long range planning or developing new approaches to conducting the work) Vision for future state to enhance the flow of reporting to allow more time for value added business activities.
